Arduino UNO R3 SMD is an open source embedded development board based on the Atmega328 microcontroller in SMD (Surface Mount Device) package. As Atmel shifts production towards surface mount ICs, the DIP packaged ATmega is becoming increasingly difficult to source. This SMD version meets demand while maintaining full compatibility.
